Holiday Inn- Morgantown served as the location for the United Way’s annual Community Leaders’ Breakfast on Thursday, August 3rd from 8:30am – 9:30am. Over 150 local business leaders joined the United Way staff to have breakfast and to hear about this year’s United Way campaign.
This breakfast is an annual summer event that precedes the kick-off of the fall United Way Campaign. It has been sponsored by Mon Health for over 30 years.
Bringing together those in a position to affect the direction and future of our region, the Community Leaders’ Breakfast allows the United Way to present an overview of community needs and the role that businesses and individuals can fill in meeting those needs.
Three United Way Funded Partners shared stories of how the dollars are affecting true community change at their agencies.
Those attending received an advance look at the 2018 Campaign that will kick-off on September 5th. Lydotta Taylor led the event as the new Campaign Chair and announced the campaign goal of $1,525,000. This year marks the 80th annual workplace campaign.
Media Embracing the Community, a collaboration of local media, unveiled the 2018 campaign theme, “My United Way” and led the first viewing of the new United Way Campaign Video, produced by Pikewood Creative.
Ten companies are serving as Pacesetters this year and running early campaigns to build momentum. Those companies are: Clear Mountain Bank, Dominion Post, First Energy, HealthWorks, Jackson Kelly, KLM Properties, Monongalia County Schools, MVB Bank, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, and United Bank.
The dollars raised through the annual United Way fundraising campaign provides funding to support 54 programs at 29 local health and human service agencies in Monongalia and Preston Counties. For more information on United Way, visit http://www.unitedwaympc.org.
