Over 80 United Way volunteers, representing 40 local companies and organizations, gathered Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012 at Dorsey’s Knob Picnic Shelter for a barbeque lunch and to track the annual campaign progress. After all volunteers reported, campaign results as of Thursday totaled $596,436 or 40% of the $1,465,000 goal for Monongalia and Preston Counties.
According to Dottie Oakes, 2013 United Way Campaign Chair, the campaign is off to a very strong start. Campaign organizers hope to meet the $1,465,000 goal by middle of December.
All Pacesetter companies reported their early fundraising totals. These companies jump-start the campaign season by running early campaigns. The 2013 Pacesetter companies are: Clear Mountain Bank, The Dominion Post, Healthworks Rehab & Fitness, Jackson Kelly PLLC, KLM Properties, MVB Bank, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, United Bank, and WVU Healthcare.
Staff members from the 29 United Way participating organizations prepared the volunteer lunch, sponsored by West Virginia University. The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties provides funding to 49 programs at 29 local health and human service agencies.
