The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties celebrated a record-breaking campaign year with their final campaign report on Thursday, December 17th at the Erickson Alumni Center. Volunteers from over 60 local companies and organizations gathered to celebrate the official end of the campaign cycle. After all volunteers reported, United Way campaign results totaled $1,570,250 or 102% of the $1,540,000 goal for Monongalia and Preston Counties. This number represents the largest campaign ever.
Mylan Pharmaceuticals reported over $375,000 raised by their employees. This is their largest amount ever raised and for the third year in a row, they are the largest contributor to the overall community campaign. West Virginia University celebrated successful results having raised over $301,000 for their 33rd annual campaign and WVU Medicine also reported a record breaking year with over $200,000.
Other companies reporting included First Energy at $80,457, Monongalia County Schools with $36,017, KeyLogic Systems at $21,926, and J.S. Walker Associates with $6,681. In total, 104 workplace campaigns took place as part of the campaign, including over 4,000 individual donors.
The Combined Federal Campaign, which includes all federal employees in the area raised nearly $140,000.
“I was honored to serve as the chair for this important community campaign,“ commented Craig Behr, 2016 Campaign Chair. “We live in an amazing community and they have once again stepped up and given generously to provide for others.”
Behr officially hands the reigns of the campaign over to Chad Prather, Morgantown Community President of Huntington Banks, who will serve as the 2017 chair.
