United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties celebrated a record breaking campaign year with their Mardi gras themed Victory Celebration on February 19, 2015 at Waterfront Place Hotel. Over 200 guests attended the evening dinner and enjoyed a night of recognition and appreciation. The campaign raised over $1,560,750 to help support our local community.
Mylan Pharmaceuticals took the top honor with the “Best of the Best” Award. For the second year in a row, Mylan was the largest workplace contributor and increased their giving by over $47,000.
HealthSouth, the WVU Foundation, and West Virginia University were all recognized for their outstanding support. Morgantown Printing and Binding received the “Best Community Impact Partner” award for their work year round with United Way.
Nancy Walker, longtime board member and supporter, received the Advocate of the Year award and Becky Wright, of WVU Healthcare, received the Outstanding Employee Coordinator award.
During the dinner, awards were also presented for the Combined Federal Campaign, with NRCS taking home the Campaign Cornerstone and the US Postal Service receiving the Best of the Best.
Attendees thanked Darryl and Shelly Duncan for their tremendous leadership of the campaign and presented them with the Timothy P. Saab Community Leader Award.
The Duncans thanked the crowd during his last official duty as campaign co-chairs and passed the torch to the 2016 campaign chair, Craig Behr, vice president of managed services at Citynet.
The funding from the annual campaign helps support 49 programs at 29 health and human service agencies in Monongalia and Preston Counties.
