United Way Celebrates Meaningful Giving

Over $1,532,600 raised for annual campaign; 105%

United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties celebrated a record breaking campaign year with their final campaign progress report on Thursday, December 13th at the Erickson Alumni Center. Volunteers from over 40 local companies and organizations gathered to celebrate the official end of the campaign cycle. After all volunteers reported, United Way campaign results totaled $1,532,600 or 105% of the $1,465,000 goal for Monongalia and Preston Counties. 

WVU Hospitals reported that $184,000 has been contributed by their employees.

West Virginia University wrapped up another successful year by exceeding their goal and raising over $330,154.

Other companies reporting were KeyLogic with over $20,249 raised, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, who also sponsored the luncheon, with over $232,552, and Monongalia County Schools with over $34,311.

The Combined Federal Campaign, which includes all federal employees in the area raised over $174,000.

“This has been an absolutely joy to serve as Chair, “commented Dottie Oakes, 2013 Campaign Chair. “I am humbled by the generosity of our community and thankful for all those that participated.”

Oakes hands the reigns of the campaign over to Brad Greathouse, VP of Human Relations at Mylan Pharmaceuticals, who will serve as the 2014 chair.
