Awards presented to companies and individuals during celebration
United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties celebrated a record breaking campaign year with their Victory Celebration on February 20, 2014 at Waterfront Place Hotel. Over 200 guests attended the evening dinner and enjoyed a night of recognition and appreciation. The campaign raised over $1,540,000 to help support our local community.
Mylan Pharmaceuticals took the top honor with the “Best of the Best” Award. For the first time ever, Mylan was the largest workplace contributor and increased their giving by over $90,000.
United Bank, BB&T, and Huntington Banks were all recognized for their outstanding support. WCLG received the “Best Community Impact Partner” award for their work with the annual Holiday Food and Toy Distribution.
Seth Wilson, of Bowls Rice, received the Advocate of the Year award and Crystal Bennett, of Mylan Pharmaceuticals, received the Outstanding Employee Coordinator award.
During the dinner, awards were also presented for the Combined Federal Campaign, with NETL taking home the Campaign Cornerstone and NIOSH receiving the Best of the Best.
Campaign Chair Brad Greathouse thanked the crowd during his last official duty as campaign chair. He also passed the torch to the 2015 campaign chairs, Darryl and Shelly Duncan, who will be chairing the campaign as the first couple ever to do so.
A highlight of the evening proved to be the unveiling of the Timothy P. Saab Community Leader Award. This new award recognizes the one person each year that steps up to chair the annual fundraising campaign. It is named after the late Tim Saab, who served United Way as President, Vice-President and Treasure of the Board of Directors and chaired the campaign in 2006. Joy Saab shared moving remarks on behalf of the Saab family and the first annual award was presented to Brad Greathouse.
