Over 70 United Way volunteers, representing 40 local companies or organizations, gathered Thursday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn to help the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties launch their 78th annual Community Campaign. Representatives from the 12 Pacesetter companies reported their early results and helped jumpstart the fundraising.
Campaign Chair Craig Behr of Citynet, tallied results and reported that the Pacesetter companies have raised over $404,800 to jumpstart the fall campaign.
Mylan Pharmaceuticals, the largest contributor to our local campaign, reported over $250,000 raised so far. Clear Mountain Bank reported that over $22,000 has been raised by their employees so far. First Energy has also brought in over $24,000.
Other Pacesetter companies reporting were Dominion Post, HealthWorks Rehab and Fitness, Mon County Schools, KLM Properties, Jackson Kelly, JS Walker Associates, Preston Memorial Hospital, United Bank, and MVB Bank.
Over 105 workplace campaigns begin today as part of the fall campaign. The goal is to raise $1,540,000 to help support 49 programs at 27 health and human service agencies in Monongalia and Preston Counties.
The event, which was themed as a Fiesta was sponsored by the WVU Foundation. The final progress report is scheduled for December 17th at Noon. It will be held at the Erickson Alumni Center and is sponsored by HealthSouth Mountainview.
