UNITED WAY ANNOUNCES LARGEST CAMPAIGN EVER
Over $1,581,550 raised for annual campaign; 102% of Goal
The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties celebrated a record-breaking campaign year with their final campaign report on Tuesday, December 13th at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa. Volunteers from over 50 local companies and organizations gathered to celebrate the official end of the campaign cycle.
After all volunteers reported, United Way campaign results totaled $1,581,550 or 102% of the $1,550,000 goal for Monongalia and Preston Counties. This number represents the largest campaign ever.
Mylan Pharmaceuticals reported over $400,000 raised by their employees. This is their largest amount ever raised and for the fourth year in a row, they are the largest contributor to the overall community campaign. West Virginia University celebrated successful results having raised over $301,425 for their 34th annual campaign and WVU Medicine also reported a record-breaking year with over $206,000.
Other companies reporting included First Energy at $92,526, Mon Health System with over $56,000, Monongalia County Schools with $39,600, KeyLogic Systems at $28,186, and Huntington Banks with $28,500. In total, 104 workplace campaigns took place as part of the campaign, including over 4,500 individual donors.
The Combined Federal Campaign, which includes all federal employees in the area raised nearly $120,000.
“I was honored to serve as the chair for this crucial community campaign,“ commented Chad Prather, 2017 Campaign Chair. “We live in a phenomenal community and they have once again stepped up and given generously to provide for others.”
Prather officially hands the reigns of the campaign over to Lydotta Taylor, President/CEO of the Edventure Group, who will serve as the 2018 chair. Next year marks the 80th anniversary of the local organization.
