The United Way Day of Caring is an annual event in Monongalia and Preston counties designed to foster service and volunteering in the community. Participants from companies and organizations will spend the day, May 12, 2021, helping local service agencies on a wide array of projects. Projects will run from 9am-5pm, in order to allow more volunteers to participate by spacing out larger groups.
Due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the many challenges that came with hosting in-person events, Day of Caring 2020 had to be put on hold. While we did not host a big day of caring in 2020, there were many more "days" of caring that took place throughout the year. Even though things are not completely opened back up, we will take extra precautions in hosting the event this year.
In the past, we have had a huge kick-off event where volunteers have gathered to start the day. This year, the kick-off event will be hosted via ZOOM, which will allow us to spend even more time at our project sites.
During the past year, many of the social service agencies we work with have implemented strong COVID-19 guidelines in order to be able to continue serving the community.
