Blue & Gold Mine Sale: Thank You for Another Great Year
The 20th annual Blue & Gold Mine Sale was a success. Held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Milan Puskar Stadium, the event once again brought together the community for one of the area’s largest rummage sales. Thanks to generous support, the event helped divert 20 to 25 tons of items from local landfills and raised valuable funds for United Way programs in Monongalia and Preston counties.
Stay tuned for details about the 2026 Blue & Gold Mine Sale.
About the Sale
Each year, the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties partners with the West Virginia University Office of Sustainability to coordinate the Blue & Gold Mine Sale during WVU graduation weekend. Items are collected from students, local residents, and community yard sales, helping ensure that usable goods are kept out of the landfill and made available at affordable prices.
Proceeds from the sale benefit the WVU United Way Campaign, which helps support 36 programs at 27 local agencies, as well as internal United Way programs such as the Helpful Harvest Food Program, WV211, the United Way Family Resource Network, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are essential to the success of the Blue & Gold Mine Sale. Community members, students, and organizations help with donation sorting, setup, assisting shoppers, and event cleanup. Volunteers who complete six or more hours prior to the event are eligible for early-bird shopping opportunities.
Sign-ups for 2026 volunteer shifts will open in the spring.
