Education is the cornerstone of individual and community success. But with more than 1.2 million children dropping out each year, America faces an education crisis. The cost? More than $312 billion in lost wages, taxes and productivity over their lifetimes according to Communities in Schools, one of America’s leading drop-out prevention partnerships. These trends are reversible, but only when communities and public, private and nonprofit sectors work together.
We want to help children and youth achieve their potential. We can help assure that children and youth have the support and experiences needed for a successful life and career.
- Support positive early learning opportunities and parental involvement.
- Provide access to enriching programs that improve school performance and foster leadership.
- Prepare students for future opportunities, careers, and civic responsibilities through academic support, skill development, and community involvement.
Our Focus Areas
In 2014, the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties will assist in funding 10 local non-profit agencies and nearly 20 programs all focusing on educational outcomes. When it comes to ensuring our youth are ready for success in academics, work, and life, we're in this together!
