Creating a stronger financial future for every generation.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to earn a living that can sustain a family and build security for future generations. That’s why we’re partnering to help more adults thrive in a career, live in quality housing and build generational wealth.
As many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and education and currently, 40 million Americans are working in low-paying jobs without basic health and retirement benefits. For families walking a financial tightrope, unable to save for college, a home, or retirement, United Way is here to help.
Our Goal
We want to promote financial stability and independence. We can help increase the number of financially stable households.
Our Strategies
- Invest in community-based initiatives that remove barriers to self-sufficiency.
- Provide essentials for those with immediate needs.
- Support building blocks for long term success and improved quality of life.
Our Focus Areas
The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties will invest funding to support programs focusing on financial stability.
Through our 2024–2025 funded partners, United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties helped more than 1,500 individuals access critical resources like job training, employment support, legal advocacy, literacy tutoring, and transportation assistance. These services empowered individuals and families to overcome barriers, achieve greater self-sufficiency, and build more secure futures.
