On May 13th, United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties continued the Day of Caring tradition for the 34th year. The organization kicked off the volunteering event in the parking lot of Burke & Herbert Bank. Although the weather was questionable, it was still a great morning with about 100 volunteers participating in the kickoff. Everyone enjoyed coffee, pastries, picked up their Day of Caring tee shirts, tried their luck in winning gift cards to local businesses, and gathered for a group photo.

In all, 285 volunteers signed up to help at 26 projects at local agencies in Monongalia and Preston counties. From planting flowers at the Shack Neighborhood House to cleaning spectator seating at Mylan Park’s Aquatic Center, participating in Day of Caring is a great way to show support for our funded partners and create lasting change throughout our community. A lot of these projects required multiple people to speed up the process on specific projects needing taken care of.

We’d like to thank Burke & Herbert Bank for sponsoring the kickoff, and to our volunteers and partners who’ve made Day of Caring a huge success!
