The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties is proud to announce that the community united to surpass its 2026 campaign goal of $1.2 million under the leadership of campaign chair Dave Thomas of Clear Mountain Bank. This ensures continued support for vital nonprofit programs across the two-county region.

Each year, United Way sets a fundraising goal with the purpose of distributing critical resources to local organizations that serve individuals and families in need. Through rigorous evaluation and allocations, these funds are invested in programs that expand access to healthcare, education opportunities, financial stability resources, food assistance, and services that improve overall community well-being.

United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties invests in a network of Funded Partners; local nonprofits that have gone through the Citizens' Review process and deliver vital community services across Monongalia and Preston counties. These partners expand United Way's mission by providing direct support in areas most needed.

Together with internal initiatives like the Helpful Harvest Food Program, WV211, and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, this funded partner network strengthens our community by helping individuals and families meet basic needs, build financial security, improve health, and access opportunities to thrive.

The campaign's success was made possible through a combination of community fundraisers including the Blue and Gold Mine Sale, Moving Mountains with the Mountaineers, Spooky Sprint, Give to Win, Realtors United Bartending Challenge, Power of the Purse, Wing-Eating Contest, and 12 Days of Giving in addition to workplace giving campaigns that allow local companies offer employees a meaningful way to contribute to meeting local community needs. These efforts reflect not just financial generosity but community engagement and care.

At the campaign celebration event on March 12, United Way honored individuals and companies whose leadership, innovation, and volunteer spirit helped make the year's success possible with awards in catagories such as Best Community Impact Partner, LIVE UNITED, Community Advocate, Best of the Best, Emerging Leader of the Year, Women United - Woman Leader of the Year, Outstanding Employee Coordinator, and the Timothy P. Saab Community Leader Award. The event took place at The Terrace at Tibbs Run at the West Virginia Botanic Garden.

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of donors, volunteers, and nonprofit partners throughout Monongalia and Preston counties, United Way continues its work to empower people, strengthen programs, and build pathways to opportunity for all.
